The story about us so far
Inspired by technical professional football players and the AND1 mix tapes, the contemporary artistic form of street football arised in the squares of Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the late 90s. Led by Edgar Davids and Nike, the game Panna Knock Out is invented together with streetfootball players from Amsterdam and Rotterdam! Panna is a Surinamese word for playing the ball through someone’s legs. The aim of the game is to beat your opponent by scoring more goals or by giving a PANNA! Panna is more than a game, it’s a hype, a lifestyle. Panna brings people together, gives you friends and improves your personal growth and street football skills!
The first tournament took place in 2001 and was, except as a publicity stunt for Nike, intended to offer street footballers a serious platform. In 2003 the first social Panna Knock Out tournaments were organized in Dutch municipalities and partly because these two initiatives, the awareness of Panna Knock Out was growing nationally and internationally. Many famous names from the street football scene like Soufiane Touzani, Jeand Doest, Sean Garnier, Jack Downer, Kristoffer Liicht, Jermaine Vanenburg en Edward van Gils get involved in Panna Knock Out.
Panna Knock Out became so popular worldwide which resulted in many local communities like Pannahouse, S3, Pannastreetz, Ghettofootball. Also professional football clubs get charmed by panna football. Since 2003 several Panna Knock Out tournaments have been organised for big football clubs such as Ajax, AZ, Feyenoord, Arsenal, Liverpool, Celtic, Galatasaray and Real Madrid. Thanks to a close cooperation with the Kingdom of the Netherlands and various embassies, Panna Knock Out tournaments were organised with and for the community in various continents and countries, such as Denmark, Mexico, Brasil, Qatar, France, Belgium, Turkey and Maroc.
In the year 2019, Panna Knock Out achieved her own golden record with the Panna Knock Out Anthem – Kilometers, together with famous rappers Kevin, Lijpe and producer Spanker.
